Carousel

About

It was Winter in 2011 when pianist Ritchie Bradbury and guitarist/vocalist Liam Chau established “The Vanishing Isle”, an acoustic act boasting an uncommon talent for songwriting and refined instrumental skill. However, they would not have dreamt to imagine this meek duo would ever evolve into the stage shaking upheaval that is now ‘Carousel’; currently brandishing a sell-out reputation as they burn their way through London venues including ‘Barfly’, 'Borderline' & ‘Garage’.

The addition of Myles Burgher, an inspired, rhythmic bassist and the electric Kyle Lowen on drums, confirmed what the founding two had originally presumed: that the ambitious songwriting had, from the beginning, required

a full sound. The blend of keyboard, bass, lead guitar, yearning vocals and a pulsating drumbeat now combine to create a post-rock/pop ferocity, which is joined by elements of soul and classical as the band’s varied taste in music and instrumental faculties come together.

What is most notable about Carousel, however, is the camaraderie amongst its band mates and the desire, therefore, to channel their external dilemmas through each other and the music. There is a day-to-day angst resonant within every song, these emotions are laid naked on a guitar string and the effect is undeniable, every performance rumbles with bare vigor and honesty.

2015 now offers itself as the most exciting prospect for the band yet. Carousel have undoubtedly taken flight and are picking up speed with every packed-out performance. The questions surrounding the 4-piece now are no longer centred on the ‘if’ but the ‘when’.
