An East End boy at heart, Chris Macaree along with his guitar have been on the UK music
scene for some years, previously working in reasonably successful gigging bands, Chris is
now concentrating on his work as a solo artist.
Born in Barking, East London and raised in Romford (Once home to Seal & Imogen Heap),
the music scene there he agreed had some effect on him as an artist and can attribute to where
he is currently in musical terms.
Viewing his music as having a more “ethereal but commercial” sound which
perhaps contains some what he calls dreamy elements. Taking influence in his youth
from artists like ‘Jeff Buckley’, he simply describes his music as “folk, rock &
acoustic.” Vocal heroes include the aforementioned Jeff Buckley, Seal, PJ Harvey, Eddie
Vedder & Bono (the latter he has drawn comparisons with, amongst many others).
Regularly gigging in London & surrounding Counties, Chris reveals how feedback has
always been surprising. Armed for most shows with just a guitar, it is with this pitch that
he feels people have come to his gigs expecting an artist in the same vein as James Blunt or
James Morrison. Dispelling those pre-conceptions in his act, Chris explains how people he
knows are introduced to a different side of him.
His live shows he states have generated amazing feedback and interest among local press
and online magazines and fanzines such as musiconair & thefly.
Chris is currently working on writing new material for his debut album and has recently
visited, played and was very well received in: Boston, New York (also playing a set at the
CMJ festival whilst there), Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington DC, Chicago, Memphis,
Dallas, & Las Vegas.
