Welcome to the world of Kira Kenley. Kira Kenley was born in early 2010, choosing to celebrate her anniversary ever after on the 12th of February for a reason that still remains unclear to those closest to her, being few or many depending on the day in question. Prior to her eventual and somehow inevitable gestation, the host had noticed a tendency towards music, most notably piano based and more specifically that of Kate Bush, Tori Amos and Nina Simone (listed in no particular order). She found her voice in a studio in Berwick Street deep in the heart of her beloved London where she was called upon to sing acappella – her first public performance. Since then the songs have appeared almost as if already fully formed in some other place but simply needing a conduit to bring them to life and let them become. Kira keeps a daily practice. She shows up and waits, waits for the songs to whisper themselves. Claiming not to know or understand, she simply listens and translates as best she can, all the time loving how the vowels and consonants roll in her mouth. Finding space. Finding order. The gift, for which she is eternally grateful.
