Phyrexia
Phyrexia is; Daniel Saunders, Rhys Sinclair, Bobby Martin Denis, Vicki Thompson, Elliot Beaver and Paul Nazarkardeh. We play an organised blend of music which we like to call "Epic Melodic Dragon Metal" - taking influences primarily from metal but all across the musical spectrum and beyond - largely into nerdy popular culture.
We regard ourselves as a quality band whom work hard, put out original material and play it live when we can. The band is something we're committed doing entirely in our spare time right now, and that takes a lot of conviction. Such attitudes are the strength of Phyrexia and why this band has survived over past years, reincarnated 'like a rising phoenix from its dying ashes' more than once in our history.
Anyone who's ever played 'Magic the Gathering' will realise we're merely a group of nerdy musicians composing and performing the music we love, and that comes across in our lyrics, cheeky remarks, music, general vibe and DIY aesthetic. In this sense we're about the most un-metal metal band we've ever come to know of. Since our inception we've moved away from the Wizards of the Coast fanboyism but have never lost that geeky spirit - we're totally true to ourselves and that's what this band is about; not being obnoxiously up our own arses and never selling out.
With that in mind, we welcome you to enjoy the music to whatever extent you like; be it downloading or buying the music, coming to the shows or grabbing some time to talk with us. We hope you love the band as much as we do.
