Sun Collective

Sun:Collective is a loosely affiliated group of aspiring young musicians whose primary goal is to make satisfying sun-related sounds. Thematic threads found in the group's work range from flickering light to prismatic spectra, dappled illumination to blinding haze. Exploration occasionally ventures into Other light sources, such as the moon, gas fires & libraries.

The Collective was established late in 2011 by songwriters Caimin Gilmore & Shane Sugrue, with the aim of expanding previous research into Sun Music, carried out as part of the Dublin-based group Gran Casino (www.myspace.com/grancasino1). During 5 years on the Irish indie circuit they enjoyed considerable success, with performances at the Dublin Fringe Festival & Ireland’s unsigned showcase Hard Working Class Heroes, while independent media touted favourable comparisons with the likes of The Arcade Fire, Elbow & Sufjan Stevens.

With ranks swollen by the cream of London’s young musical talent - from the Southbank Symphonia, and Trinity College & Guildhall Schools of Music - the pair is now garnering support amongst hushed sun-loving Sunday-evening crowds across the city.
